Steering Wheel Restoration, FAQ
What steps do I need to take to get my vintage steering wheel repaired?
At Yesteryear Steering Wheel Restoration we recommend you email us some photos of your classic steering wheel first so we can see it, assess it and get an idea of costs involved. Once we’ve done that then you simply post your vintage steering wheel to us and we set to work restoring it with our special, handcrafted techniques. It’s a good idea to register your steering wheel parcel with Australia Post, as we will when returning it to you.
I live overseas; will you still do steering wheel repairs for me?
Yes, we service overseas customers, you just need to contact us about customs and shipping protocol. We ship your vintage steering wheel via Australia’s Post’s international express courier which has a trackable, two to three-day transit.
What sort of vintage steering wheels do you repair?
The techniques we use at Yesteryear Steering Wheel Restoration mean only hard surfaces are suitable for steering wheel refurbishment. This includes vintage steering wheels made of bakelite plastic or wood. Take a look at our projects page to get an idea of the steering wheel repairs we have done.
How long does it take to refinish steering wheels?
We usually allow three to four weeks to complete your vintage steering wheel, depending on the condition and work involved.
Do you sell any restored classic steering wheels?
No, all the classic steering wheels featured on this site are commissioned jobs and are therefore not for sale.
